James Kurtti

Biographical Information
Jim Kurtti is long-time editor of The Finnish American Reporter. He also serves as director
of the Finnish American Heritage Center & Historical Archive at Finlandia University
(formerly Suomi College) and has contributed significantly to the maintenance of Finnish
culture in America.
He also boasts the following accomplishments:
- chairman of the Finnish Theme Committee of Hancock (Finlandia Foundation Copper
Country Chapter), which hosts the annual mid-winter event Heikinpäivä.
- Salolampi Foundation board member
- numerous FinnFest presentations
- taught Finnish in Hancock High School
- board member of the Upper Peninsula Ethnic Music Alliance
